This summer, KOL and chef patron Santiago Lastra partner with Tate Modern for two exclusive experiences inspired by Frida: The Making of an Icon.
Born in the same city as Frida Kahlo, Santiago reimagines Mexican heritage through British produce in a personal tribute to her life and legacy – available as a special menu running throughout the summer, and a special one-night-only dinner event.
Chef Patron Santiago Lastra’s debut cookbook, Mexican Soul, arrives this August – and we’re thrilled to be hosting the launch. The book explores how Mexican flavour can be unlocked anywhere in the world, using what’s local and in season.
Join us on Sunday 9 August, 1–4pm, at KOL for a relaxed standing celebration – tickets are £70 per person and include a signed copy, a live Q&A with Santiago, and four dishes from its pages.
We offer two spaces at KOL: Chef’s Table and the adjoining Mezcaleria bar.
Chef’s Table, inspired by a traditional Oaxacan home, overlooks a private kitchen with a dedicated team of chefs. Seating up to 20 guests, it offers five- and eight-course menus, with wine pairings available in consultation with our Head Sommelier.
The agave-led Mezcaleria bar provides an intimate setting for relaxed celebrations. Guests can enjoy a bespoke drinks list centred around Mexican spirits and British botanicals, alongside a curated wine selection. Drinks offerings are paired with antojitos, from short rib empanadas to seasonal ceviches.
For larger occasions, Mezcaleria can be combined with Chef’s Table to create a connected space for up to 50 guests.
